Why Is My 3D Print File Failing to Upload?

Discover common reasons for 3D print file upload failures and how to troubleshoot them effectively.

To get a price quote, you first need to upload your design file. During upload, our system automatically checks and repairs the file. Sometimes, however, the file issues are too complex to fix automatically, which can cause an upload error.

Common reasons for upload errors include:

  • Inverted normals
  • Bad edges or contours
  • Holes or missing triangles
  • Intersecting or overlapping geometry

How to fix this:

  • Review your model in your 3D modeling software and correct any geometry or topology errors.
  • Check your STL export settings.
  • Try exporting and uploading the file in a different format.

Accepted file formats:
STL, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, WRL, MATPART, STP, SKP, SLDPRT
